Huzzah April fools to all you badgers out there! The world is full of strange jokes on this day. Some particularly hilarious security guard put a no smoking sign on our ashtray outside – oh how we lol’d. Google always come out with a few good ones. I enjoyed the 3d glasses aspect that they added to Chrome and the upside down YouTube extension was also a nice touch. For me the best one was Google’s CADIE homepage which I thought was a stroke of pure genius. The idea that an AI could scan the web and create its own homepage and come up with a pathological love for all things panda-related was brilliant.

Among other things the G20 kicked off, quite literally. Although the protests seemed completely ineffectual and consisted of mainly students wanting to have a piss-up rather than a group of citizens demonstrating for their rights. I particularly liked Obama’s quip during the press conference when he was asked about soccer and if he had any message for the English team. Obama was a bit hesitant and stated that he didn’t want to become involved in any entanglements regarding European ‘football’ as he had received no intelligence briefing regarding the match. The man is definitely very quick and smooth; a sure sign of his intelligence and diplomatic prowess.

As to the game, well it was pretty disappointing. In my opinion, we did the bare minimum and were lucky to get through. Crouchies goal was straight at the keeper, but close enough to get through and Terry’s tap in was well earned but not spectacular. Once again we got the job done, just. We dominated, but did not capitalise on our chance and England’s lack of a formidable or on-form striker is clearly apparent. To be honest we haven’t had a prolific goal scorer one since Alan shearer and there seems to be very little sign of one coming. Talking of Shearer, what the hell is he doing??? Possibly career suicide, but he’s always got his commentating to fall back on if Newcastle continues to dip down into the murky depths of relegation. We shall see what April brings, hopefully some sun will arrive and I can sit out on the patio furniture and bathe in glorious UV light.

the whole truth is that london today seemed pretty serene, walked past the bank where all the protestors where smashing stuff up and it looked pretty good, capitalism is good if they keep producing all these amazing buildings!
