In a recent and completely biased news segment, Fox’s overly opinionated and eternal idiot, Bill O’Reilly, denounced the city of Amsterdam as hotbed of murder, liberalism and immorality. In his show, O’ Reilly and a series of Fox commentators portrayed the Dutch capital as a city overrun by drugs, prostitution and organised crime. Now of course those elements DO exist within the city, but as everyone knows criminal elements exist within every city across the globe; Amsterdam is no exception to this and neither is New York, Austin or even the Mormon stronghold of Salt Lake City.
Describing Amsterdam as a cesspool is completely ridiculous, as well as factually incorrect and grossly misleading. The overwhelming hubris of Fox and their commentators is truly astonishing. In response to his news segment a group of Amsterdam locals decided to hit back with their own interpretation of the Dutch capital. With a series of brutal statistics the Amsterdammers neatly destroy all of Fox’s outrageous criticisms and unfounded statements.
Anyone who has actually visited Amsterdam knows that the city is one of the most beautiful and most cultural cities within Europe. Besides a vibrant nightlife and the allure of the café culture, Amsterdam boasts a series of historic locations and incredible museums including Anne Franks House, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum which contains some of the most important art masterpieces in Europe. Two of the best ways to view the city are either by canal boat or by bike. However, there are numerous locations to visit outside the city including the nearby city of Rotterdam and these are best accessed by organising car hire in Amsterdam. A quick trip outside the city by car provides holidaymakers with a beautiful view of Tulip flower fields and numerous traditional Dutch windmills.
