Stuff going abroad, take a staycation instead..

With the economy still down in the dumps and the Pound still weak against the Euro it’s time to forget about that week in the south of France and start thinking about a trip to Bognor instead. Yep, that’s right, unless you’re going to fork out for an all-inclusive package deal then it’s time to start looking at a Great British staycation. Foreign parts are overrated anyway you might as well just stay home, who wants to go and see the Eiffel Tower or the Vatican anyway….

With our countries currency scraping the barrel, a vacation abroad just isn’t financially practical this summer. Your average price of a beer within the Euro zone is hitting about £5 a pint, which is crazy; you can get cheaper drink in a Soho strip-bar! All reports suggest that this summer is going to be scorcher which is good news for the UK’s tourism industry.

Most camp sites and UK holiday destinations are predicting a record year for tourists and staycationers. With so many people holidaying at home this year, it’s going to be important to plan and book well in advance. UK car hire companies are also predicting a good year due to staycationers and a potential high influx of Euro wielding tourists.

If you are thinking of staying home this summer then there are lots of places to consider visiting. Cornwall always attracts thousands of visitors each year, so does the New Forest and the Lake District. London always attracts a large percentage of holidaymakers as does Cambridge and Oxford. For those who want to look further afield there’s the national park of Snowdonia and of course the beautiful scenic glens of the Scottish Highlands.

  • That photo is awesome. With the prices of everything lately including gas, food, room and board and other expenses, who can afford to go away, especially far like overseas? Staycations are great because you get a break but without having to pack a ton of crap.
